“This service takes place on the first Sunday of December. For many years, our members brought gifts of hats, gloves, scarves, shower gel, soap and sweet treats to be donated to St. Basil’s (a charity that prevents homelessness in the West Midlands.)
However, a few years ago, they told us they no longer needed such gifts from local churches which coincided with the start of the Aston Local Pantry in our building. This is a weekly project shared between us and Christ Church Birmingham who worship in our building.
As the Local Pantry is only allowed to sell foodstuffs and personal hygiene basics, we now donate chocolates and sweets to be given to the clients so that they can enjoy a few sweet treats during the Christmas period.”
