We are instigating a system of targeted communications for Church Safeguarding Coordinators, and DBS/PVG verifiers where we inform you directly on updates to policy and/or procedure. These will be sent out as an when an update occurs. The URC has updated two key documents for your attention: DBS/PVG Matrix The DBS/PVG matrix details clearly where a role needs a disclosure, at what level and who is responsible for instigating the check and keeping a record of it. England/Wales – Disclosure and Barring Service Scotland – Disclosure Scotland/PVG Due Diligence Checking are updating their role profiles to fit with the revised matrix. Safeguarding Training Matrix The Safeguarding Training Matrix, which was agreed at General Assembly 2025, provides clarity around the levels of mandatory training required for various roles in each nation and each incudes a helpful diagram to assist you on your training pathway. England, Wales, Scotland We would like to take this opportunity to publicise our forthcoming Safeguarding Symposium on 15 October where Safeguarding staff will explain in more detail the updated training and DBS/PVG matrixes.
